About Sheep Australia
Sheep Australia is a livestock management service for time pressured farmers. The company was established in 2006.
The directors of the company are:
Roger House
Roger is currently running a 2600 hectare mixed farming enterprise in Kojonup; 55% of this area is leased. During the past 28
years his farming experience has been in Wool and Meat sheep, cattle and cropping. He is a progressive and innovative farmer
who is willing to trial and adopt new ideas. Over the last ten years Roger has been invited to contribute to several industry related
groups and advisory panels. He brings an excellent understanding of the sheep industry both in Australia and New Zealand
where he is a director/shareholder of a large farming company.
Roger is a member the institute of company directors and is Chairman of Sheep Australia.
Kevin Bell
Kevin is currently Professor of Animal Production Systems at Murdoch University, teaching in a new degree program in Animal
Science. He has worked for more than two decades as an advisor to a group of innovative farmers managing sheep-dominant
enterprises in the Kojonup area of WA. He was elected as a Director of Australian Wool Innovation in 2002, in which role he
facilitates research, extension and marketing with the aim of increasing the profitability of Australian wool growing businesses.
Kevin brings a wide knowledge of all aspects of sheep farming, including the human and business side. He has a national
awareness of the sheep industry, and is passionate that farming businesses maintain their profitability in increasingly difficult
circumstances.
Howard Knight
Howard has spent the past 20 years in the banking and finance industry as an investment banker and asset manager
based in Australia, London, Hong Kong and Singapore. In the Asia/Pacific region he has built and managed three businesses
for two of the world’s largest banks. As an investment banker, his area of expertise includes arranging debt financing, developing
commodity price and foreign exchange hedge programs, international trade and shipping/logistics etc. As an asset manager,
he is experienced in both traditional and non-traditional asset management products, including launching innovative investment
products in the Australian market. Howard brings to Sheep Australia particular skills in structuring, financing and risk management,
and has an extensive list of contacts across the Australia and Asia representing most of the significant investors in
the region. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, is a Senior Associate of the Financial Services
Institute of Australia, and holds an Australian Financial Services Licence.
Murray Gmeiner
Murray brings the unique mix of skills of being an active progressive practicing farmer with the additional benefit of being an
agricultural consultant and Director of the Rural Business Development Corporation. Murray’s farming experience includes over
15 years of owning and managing a livestock and cropping operation in the south-west of Western Australia; and currently owning
and managing an intensive horticultural property.
Murray was awarded a Australian Nuffield Farming Scholarship in 2001, has worked in agricultural extension, has experience in
international agriculture and has recently completed a Masters of Business Administration at the University of Western
Australia.
Murray brings to Sheep Australia the knowledge and understanding of the practical issues relating to sheep management and
particularly the intensification process. Murray is the managing director of Sheep Australia.
Murray is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a member of the Australian Institute of Management, has a
Bachelor of Business, is a Nuffield Scholar, and has an MBA. |
